Pulley Indexing Flange Nut
For use on all 1980-2006 5-Speeds BT models & 1991-Present XL Models.
This Flange Nut is compatible with all BT & XL belt sprockets that use OEM lock plate 40251-92
Installation Instructions:
1. Remove the inner primary. Refer to your OEM service manual for instructions.
2. Remove the (2) allen head screws and remove the lock plate from the pulley.
3. Remove sprocket nut using counter sprocket nut tool VT No. 16-0821, and pulley lock tool VT
No. 16-0649 for BT Models or VT No. 16-0588 for XL Models.
Note: Sprocket nut has a left hand thread.
4. Install the Pulley Indexing Flange Nut using red loctite.
5. Use the sprocket lock nut wrench 16-0821, and pulley lock tool VT No. 16-0649 for BT Models or
VT No. 16-0588 for XL Models and tighten nut to 110-120 ft./lbs.
6. Install allen head lock screw in hole that lines up with hole in the Pulley Indexing Flange Nut.
Note: If no holes in Pulley Indexing Flange Nut line up with sprocket, remove sprocket and reposition on
spline to the right or left and try to line it up the holes again.
7. At between 110-120 ft lbs of torque the holes should be close. You can tighten the nut up more
to help line up however do not exceed 150 ft lbs.
8. Applications may vary slightly therefore this procedure may have to be done several times to line
up holes.
9. Reassemble according to your OEM service manual.
